Organ recital - Richard Gowers

Sunday September 4th at 6:00pm

Richard Gowers is the Senior Organ Scholar at King’s College Cambridge. He was a chorister at King’s until 2008, singing the opening solo ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ in their 2007 worldwide Christmas Eve broadcast of a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. In 2016 he will close the annual broadcast as the organist, rounding off connections with the choir that have lasted over a decade. This year’s broadcast will hold special significance as the first after an extensive nine-month restoration of the Harrison & Harrison organ in King’s College Chapel.

A young virtuoso organist with a brilliant career ahead of him, Richard will perform at Trinity Cathedral as part of a nationwide concert tour - his third to the USA. His program includes the Toccata by Patrick Gowers (his grandfather), excerpts from Bach's Clavierübung III and Jupiter from Holst's Planets.

Advanced tickets have now stopped for this event, tickets are $20 on the door. Students $5 with valid ID.
