Please welcome our new Bookstore Manager: After an exhaustive search by the Administration & Finance Committee, which included reviewing over 50 applications and interviewing qualified candidates, we are pleased to announce that Billy Mitchum has accepted the offer to join the Cathedral staff as our full-time Bookstore Manager. Billy has extensive retail experience and most recently successfully started and managed Angel Food Gifts & Books at St. Thomas Episcopal Parish in Coral Gables. We are very excited about welcoming Billy to our Cathedral family when he begins in his new role on Aug. 18th.
ECW is having a meeting in the Parlor after the 8 a.m. service today.
A memorial service for Shirley Steuernagel will be held in All Saints’ Chapel following the 10 a.m. service today. The congregation is invited to attend.
Beginning today, the Scripture Readings for the upcoming Sunday will be noted in the calendar section of the announcements, so that anyone who would like to prepare for next week’s lessons may do so.

The 2008 Lambeth Conference is taking place from July 16th to Sunday, August 3rd. Lambeth Conferences, begun in 1867, are meetings of the bishops and archbishops of the Anglican Communion. Typically held every ten years, the Lambeth Conference is one of the ‘instruments of communion’ that facilitate communication among churches in the Anglican Communion. The Consulate General of Jamaica invites us to the Annual Emancipation Day and Independence Ecumenical Church Service and Reception scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 3rd, at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, 401 SE 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.
The Diocesan Youth Convention will be held Aug. 8th – 9th at St. Benedict’s in Plantation. The format this year has been revised and expanded. The theme is “Empowering Episcopal Youth to Lead—NOW.” For details see www.diosef.org/register Registration deadline is August 4th.
Men Seeking God: Finding the Wise Man Within, a retreat for men only, will be held at the Duncan Center and led by Rev. Karl D. Ruttan, Ph.D. This retreat will be held Aug. 22nd, 6 – 9 p.m. and Aug. 23rd, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Accommodations are available for those wishing to spend the night. Yoga classes at Trinity will be beginning in mid-August, taught by our Assistant James Reho who is a certified yoga instructor. Classes will be offered in Cathedral Hall at selected times during the week. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks ahead and a bulletin insert on Christian yoga next week.
Cathedral Sexton moving on: Earnest Gipson, our Cathedral sexton for the past 4 1/2 years, is moving on to seek opportunities elsewhere. His last day with us is July 31st. Earnest succeeded his brother Thomas, who had served in that role for 10 years, frequently helping Thomas with different projects at the Cathedral. So the Cathedral has been a part of Earnest's life for 14 years. Earnest thanks everyone for their kindness and support over the past several years and will always remember the Cathedral community fondly. Please remember Earnest in your prayers as we wish him well.
Seeking a full-time sexton. Compensation for this position includes a cash stipend, on-site apartment, utilities and medical/dental benefits. The sexton is primarily responsible for custodial and security duties for the Cathedral buildings and grounds. This is a great opportunity to be part of an exciting team and a growing congregation committed to mission and ministry in the downtown Miami and wider Diocesan community.
